It probably won’t surprise any of you that I’m inflicted with this slightly pervasive psychological condition popularly known as anal retentiveness, sometimes miscalled as OCD. I’m not the least bit embarrassed by it, in fact, I’m proud to say that it has helped my chaotic life gain a sense of peace many times. It is accompanied with obsessive cleaning and organizing, even while I’m on the road. So I thought I’d share with you a bit of my OCD packing habits…

Packing cubes have really enhanced my packing. They help to organize as well as retain shape for anything from underwear to belts. They also come in handy if you end up in a hotel with no shelving, you don’t need to worry that your neatly folded clothes will soon turn into a messy pile, just leave them in their packing cubes and voila, order is accomplished on the road.
I really like to prepare my outfits before I pack. This helps me with a couple of things: 1. avoid packing things I won’t wear (and) 2. save time choosing outfits while on the road (which often gets very hectic).

Whenever possible, I like to pack my handbags and shoes in dust bags to keep them in the best condition.

I also try to include balance into my traveling life by packing some satin pajamas, workout clothes, portable yoga mat, and travel candle. I’m currently thankful for my 5-finger toe shoes, they allow me to keep up my running while traveling without taking up a lot of room in my luggage.

In my carry-on luggage is a combination of tech and lux: laptop, iPad, camera & lens, eye mask, socks, and lip treatment.
